The tapestry weaver Margrethe Agger finds her motifs in
nature. She paints with her yarns. The sky, the sea,
animals, plants and stones are drawn upon and
transformed into tapestries in glowing colours and in
either a concrete or highly imaginative artistic idiom.
Over the years she has gathered inspiration from Mexico,
Lapland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland and, most
recently, from the surrounding countryside on Sjællands
Odde, a narrow tongue of land that juts out into
the sea on the north coast of the island of Zealand in
Denmark.
Margrethe Agger was born in Copenhagen on August 13,
1943.
